I would like to be added to the giveaway. I am new to gardening, we bought a house when hubby retired from military and we moved. I haven’t found a job as of yet so I have been spending my time in “my garden”. I have always had windchimes as they seem to have a calming effect on me, bamboo is my favorite. I also enjoy watching the birds at the birdbath and birdhouses. Anyway i love your blog and am learning so much
I sent you an email that you have to come back tomorrow. Thank you for being a fan of my blog. I enjoy posting and chit chatting with everyone.
I am so happy I found your blog. I have been looking for a place that had so much information about NC and the gardens and Historic area.
Thanks,
Welcome to my blog Rebecca. I just sent you an email. I’ll be happy to recommend things to do and places to see. Please come back and join in on the post and comment. I almost always answer in a day or two.
Anna Hello,
We are going to the Outer Banks next month for Spring Break. Can you tell me of any good places to stop on the way there and to do while we are there.
Enjoy your site so much.
Thanks for all the smiles you give me in your post
Peonies are divided in the fall and make sure you get a complete eye to transplant. I heard someone say once that Peonies only need dividing once every 150 years. They just don’t need it like other perennials.
Thank you for following my blog! And did you ask me about peonies this week? The email only went partially through. Just ignore this if you didn’t ask
http://www.visitnc.com/ is the best place to get links for fun stuff to do in NC.
http://www.outerbanks.org/ is a really good site for just the Outer Banks.
What roads are you traveling on your way and maybe I can give you some specifics? And what part of the OBX are you going to? Have you been before? I just love it there.
Hi Anna,
Thanks for the info on Peonies. I had not received it before.
As for the Outer Banks we will be taking 49 to 64 then down the coast to Avon.
My husband and I went 10 years ago and stayed in Mateo. We had only a day there and we drove up and down the coast line and walked all over Mateo.
This is a family trip we are taking with our daughter her family. They have not been there. We will stay a week in Avon. We already have lots of plans, but was wanted to know of anywhere along the way we could stop and take a break. I think I told you before my husband has lung cancer so we will need to stop several times so he can rest from the ride. When we went before I don’t remember any place to stop, but I know it must have built up along there by now.
I hope to get to Winston Salem in the next couple of weeks. I look forward to going to the Briar Patch Garden Center.
Thanks for the pictures of the Briar Patch Garden Center.
Hi, just wanted to so how much I enjoy your site. I started my own garden, in the middle of the desert in Arizona. The cactus is just too much for me. Anyway, this site is very helpful. Thanks.
That is sure an uplifting kind thing to say and I appreciate you telling me. I sure know Arizona. I lived there for two years 1978-1980. It amazed me that some homes had no grass in the front lawn. It was all rocks. I got use to it and even learned to think it was pretty. If cactus aren’t your thing then there are loads of succulents with all kinds of color that you’ll love. Succulents such as sedum, sempervivum and echeveria, are very interesting. Rock features and dry beds with native grasses are an option. Pergolas with a swing are great.
The site Stone Crop has some good information on hardy succulants. You can see how to achieve color for your zone. Thank you for coming by to tell me you enjoy my blog. I appreciate it very much.
Hi, I have sent on my address as I would love to be part of your Gardening Letter. I am located in Ireland and have visited your blog for the first time. The photographs are fantastic.
Best Wishes
